I like lofts and country houses, baroque and mid-century, maximalism and minimalism. Many contradictions - but from contradiction comes inspiration and interesting tension in the design. It also makes me flexible enough to work to a lot of different briefs.
Lately I’ve been busy creating custom bedding assets for the European market. You may already know this, but in the German-speaking DACH region especially, the usual bedding set has two duvets and mattresses instead of one shared one. A top sheet is not usually used, and the standard pillow sizes are also different than the US standard. Try to go find some good assets of a bed like that…
So I’m turning my experience with clothing simulation into something new by using Marvelous Designer to literally “make the bed”.
The cloth simulation is pretty fun, but I'm more excited about the tool I made. Now I can use the timeline to render all the colorways in one go, instead of switching between them before starting each render.
In several Math nodes set to 'Greater Than', compare #frame with a series of numbers. Plug the results into the Factor input of a Color Mix Nodes that combine colorway_n with colorway_n+1 and so on. Rinse and repeat.
Naturally it helps to have a good library of interior design assets and environment setup tricks to complete the scene. I combine all these in blender, where I think the camera controls and render options are the most efficient.
